I’ve always been a huge falafel fan, no matter if it’s in a kebab or with some fresh vegetables and a tasty dip. I red through many amazing falafel, dip and pita,… recipes and think that I’ve found my perfect mix so here’s my vegan Falafel- Tahini-Wrap recipe:
- 250g flour
- 125ml lukewarm water
- 1tsp dried yeast
- 1tsp sugar
- some salt/ herbs (opt.)
- 1tbsp olive oil
Mix everything from water to olive oil together, add flour little by little and start to kneat the dough. Put it into a bowl, cover it with a damp kitchen towel and allow the dough to rise for about one hour. Meanwhile you can start with the tahini sauce and the falafel mixture.
After one hour divide the dough into ∼ 5 pieces and roll it out very thinly. Put it in a hot pan (without any oil,..!) and turn it around when it starts to get brown spots.
2.Tahini Sauce ingredients:
- 125g Tahini
- 125g water
- juice of 1 lemon
- 2 cloves of garlic
- 1/4 bunch of parsley
- 2 tsp sugar
- salt & pepper
Blenderize everything together, that’s it (: The sauce tastes a little bitter but I like the mix of sauce and falafel. It’s a matter of taste. I’m sure a homemade tzaziki,… tastes delicious as well.
- 250g canned chickpeas*
- 3 cloves of garlic
- 1 onion
- 1/2 bunch of parsley
- zest of 1 lemon
- some igwer and chili powder to spice it up
- “Falafel mix” of “just spices” gives your falafel that certain extra. (more informations ↓) (alternative you can use some coriander, cumin, salt& pepper to season your falafel mixture.)
- 9tbsp flour
- 1tsp baking powder
- some olive oil to roast gently
*You can use dried chickpeas as well. In that case you have to soak them for about 12 hours, that’s why I like to use the canned ones. Just take a look that you get a good quality!
Let the chickpeas drain with cold water. Cut onion and garlic into small pieces and blenderize it with the chickpeas and 1/2 bunch of parsley. Add lemon zest, some ingwer and chili powder and the falafel mix and mash it again. Put the paste into a bowl and start to add flour little by little. After all add 1tsp baking powder and kneat together until it’s an even dough.
Heat a pan and add olive oil until the pan base is covered with oil. Make small balls (1 big tbsp dough is about 1 falafel) and roast gently from all sides.
4. Other ingredients + preparation
- lots of different vegetables of your choice. I like to use tomatoes, paprika, cucumber, salad,… it’s up to you! 🙂
Cut vegetables into small pieces and start to fill your hot wrap with everything you have. Butter it with your tahini sauce, add about 4-5 falafel and your vegetables and start to roll your wrap. (Never done this before? Just type in “how to roll a wrap” on youtube ;))
Enjoy your meal!!! (:
